"We can't think our way to safety.

Safety is not a cognitive experience.

It is an embodied experience."

Safe & Sound / Rest & Restore

Two listening therapies, developed by Stephen Porges, the founder of Polyvagal Theory.

  • In-person or remote delivery

  • At your own pace

  • In your own home

  • Appropriate for all ages

Safe & Sound Protocol

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), and the Rest & Restore Protocol (RRP) are evidence-based listening therapies

for REDUCING

Hypervigilience, hyperarousal, overwhelm, anxiety, reactivity, poor attention, physical tension, elevated blood pressure, shallow breathing

and IMPROVING

Social engagement, connection, awareness, clarity of thought, presence, emotional flexibility, impulse control, curiosity, relaxation, sleep quality, regulation of heart rate and blood pressure, breath capacity,

These listening technologies act as non-invasive, acoustic vagal nerve stimulators, helping to retune the nervous system to better support connection, collaboration, and resilience.

The SSP and RRP involve listening to specially filtered music through headphones in person or remotely.

Suitable for children and adults, the SSP and RRP have demonstrated benefits for individuals with trauma, anxiety, sensory processing differences, trouble sleeping, and more.

Polyvagal Theory

The Science of Feeling Safe

Developed by world-renowned researcher and Unyte’s Chief Scientific Advisor, Dr. Stephen Porges, Polyvagal Theory focuses on what is happening in the body and the nervous system, and explains how our sense of safety, danger or life-threat can impact our behavior. Understanding Polyvagal Theory gives us a scientific framework that can be applied through physiological, or “bottom-up” therapies, to help change and improve how we feel, think and connect with others.
